Employment Services Advisor

We are currently recruiting for an Employment Services Advisor to join our team.

Position:
Employment Services Advisor

EFT: 1.0 EFT (Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm)

Position Overview:

  • Welcome new applicants and visitors into our office and direct them to appropriate contacts or services, and provide information in person and by phone
  • Coach job seekers in their daily job search, assist with job leads, resumes and cover letters
  • Maintain the Job Resource Area to help facilitate efficient job search
  • Make short presentations on job search related topics
  • Administer orientation sessions for new participants and schedule next steps
  • Conduct “First Impressions” interviews to assess skills, barriers and job goals
  • Answer participant inquiries regarding a wide variety of job search, program or support issues

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or the equivalent in experience (experience providing employment services would be preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong planning and organizational skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Solid understanding of barriers to employment and working with individuals from diverse cultures
  • In-depth knowledge of job searching techniques and local labour market trends
  • Experience in developing professional resumes and cover letters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database use
  • Strong desire to work in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of community resources providing services to low-income and multi-barrier clients
  • Knowledge of the Stages of Change Model and Motivational Interviewing is an asset

Research Support/Analyst (Full-Time 2 year term position)

OFE is participating in a  research project to evaluate a milestone approach to employment programming.  We are currently recruiting for team members who will support the local research efforts and deployment of specialized programming at OFE.  

OFE is a private, faith-based, non-profit organization delivering Employment Assistance Services in Winnipeg.  Our mission is to assist adults to achieve self-sufficiency through meaningful employment. We are currently recruiting for the following position:
 
Research Support/Analyst
1.0 EFT, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Term position until September 2021 

 The Research Support/Analyst position involves a variety of data collection and analysis functions.  The individual needs to be one who multitasks well and enjoys the role of assisting Opportunities for Employment (OFE) staff accomplish our collective goals and objectives.

Overview of duties:

  • Conduct baseline and follow-up surveys
  • Recruit clients and employers for focus groups and interviews
  • Track engagement in milestones; enter data, analyze data, produce updates and commentary
  • Enter and maintain information into spreadsheets, databases or other information management systems
  • Participate in the collection of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Participate in meetings with third party researchers, funders or other partners
  • Produce statistical reports for monthly and ad hoc meetings
  • Use data output to contribute to discussions on program design and enhancement/changes to improve outcomes
  • Work with manager to develop assessment tools/processes to quantify industry standards with employers to measure gains or establish competency

Qualifications:

Mandatory:  A satisfactory Criminal Records Check

  • In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  Advanced skills in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience in data entry and analysis for research purposes
  • Above average organizational abilities with clear understanding and attention to priorities
  • Demonstrates consistent punctuality, accuracy and dependability
  • Strong verbal and written communication, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Post-secondary education in statistics or research methods, or equivalent in experience
  • Experience in the management of databases, data entry, the maintenance and cleaning of data, and working with professional teams to collect data and create specialized reports
  • Able to analyze datasets for quality and potential reporting structure
  • Familiar with basic statistical calculations and reporting
  • Understanding of data collection and report generation
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to perform as a member of the team
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Demonstrates effective conceptual, organizational, critical thinking/problem-solving and decision making skills

The Employer Liaison is responsible to broker training and employment opportunities for program participants.  The incumbent will contact employers directly to market the opportunity within the manufacturing or other sectors, strategically matching participants and the needs of employer partners by negotiating work experience, training opportunities and direct placements.

Qualifications:

Career Exploration and Computer Facilitator (Full-Time, nine month term with possibility of extension)

We are currently recruiting for a Career Exploration and Computer Facilitator to join our team.   

Opportunities for Employment (OFE) is a private, faith-based, non-profit organization.  Our mission is to assist adults to achieve self-sufficiency through full-time, long-term employment.

 The Career Exploration and Computer Facilitator will provide guidance and support to participants to identify short-term, achievable job goals and to facilitate the process of participants completing online assessments in the areas of essential skills (numeracy, document use and reading) and various short-term web-based training opportunities. The Facilitator will guide participants in basic computer usage in a Windows environment to access online interfaces to complete training modules or assessment.  In addition, the Facilitator will develop and deliver curriculum related to career development and may be required to facilitate training in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

The incumbent will demonstrate high levels of flexibility and creativity to adjust to various learning styles as well as language and literacy levels.  The ability to easily and quickly establish and maintain positive working relationships with multi-barriered job seekers is required.  Establishing a comfortable atmosphere that is conducive to learning is essential.  An analytical, well organized, people-person will thrive in this role.

  • Experience in conducting career assessments with individuals and groups from diverse cultures and varied life experiences to help people identify job goals and related gaps in skills, education or experience.

  • Demonstrates consistent punctuality, accuracy and dependability.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational skills, and will be an effective team member.
  • Ability to enter data into a computerized system quickly and accurately.
  • Experience working as an Instructor in a classroom with adult learners of various backgrounds, which may include barriers to employment such as low language and literacy levels.
  • Experience in classroom facilitation, delivering curriculum using various techniques and mediums.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or the equivalent in experience.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Essential Skills and related assessment tools would be an asset as would experience as a Computer Instructor/Facilitator.
  • Able to provide a clear criminal record check and child abuse registry check.
