computer training, which is delivered
by an instructor in a classroom
setting here at OFE.

Internet and Microsoft Office.

Introduction to Computers

This workshop is designed to increase the participant’s knowledge of the Windows operating system environment
and tools, and to increase the participant’s basic computer skills.

  • Access e-mail
  • Apply for jobs using e-mail
  • Access job banks
  • Print, save, retrieve information
Digital Job Search
This workshop is designed for program participants who are typically ready to work, but require assistance in pre-
paring for a digital job search and learning how to use the computer as an effective job search tool.
Fundamentals:
  • Effectively utilizing an e-mail address; storing and retrieving files on the cloud
  • Emailing job search documents to employers
  • Using Windows and Microsoft Word for job search purposes
  • Using Job search engines online, filling out online applications, working through recruitment software
  • Identifying job related scams
  • Marketing themselves on the Internet
Note: Participants must take Introduction to Computers or Word 1 as a pre-requisite for Digital Job Search
Word Processing (Basic)
This workshop is designed to increase the participant’s knowledge of basic office documents, styles and formatting
options.

Word Processing (Intermediate)
This workshop is designed to increase the participant’s knowledge of tables, objects and symbols in workplace

Word Processing (Advanced)
This workshop is designed to increase the participant’s knowledge of report formats, custom documents and
publishing.

  • Custom document setup
  • End notes and footnotes
  • Manipulating breaks
E-mail
This workshop is especially effective for new users of e-mail who want to manage e-mail tasks and documents more efficiently.

Spreadsheets (Basic)
This workshop is designed for new spreadsheet learners or individuals who haven’t used spreadsheets for a few years.
