Looking for a job under normal circumstances is hard enough, but coupled with a global pandemic that has many companies shutting its doors? It feels impossible. We get it. That is why every other week we will scour the world wide web to find worthwhile job leads and share them with you. As a bonus, we will do what we do best: offer ideas for how you can successfully apply.
Want a little more support? Head over to our YouTube channel for helpful videos. Better yet, talk to your Employment Consultant (EC) and sign up for our online or in-person job search classes. Your ECs are ready to take in-person appointments at OFE, but no worries if you still feel uncomfortable leaving your home. You can call, email, or use the LiveChat feature on our website to stay connected.
Before we get started, here are some reminders for your job search during this time.
- Be open, and open-minded. We all have our dream jobs, but when opportunities are scarce we have to be a little more flexible in our thinking. You don’t have to give up on your goals but for now it’s helpful to widen your search and consider positions you normally wouldn’t. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, in a fluid and changing market it’s more helpful to re-frame your next job as a stepping stone, not necessarily as a final destination.
- Don’t put your eggs in one basket. You don’t want to pin all your hopes on one or two applications. It’s better having to say, “No” to an employer than not getting any calls at all.
- Grow and practice your computer and online skills. Since in-person contact is limited, the best way to ensure your success is to familiarize yourself with the online world. Now is the time to finally set up that LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. account, and while you’re waiting for a response.
Now onto the job leads! Here is what we have for you this week, June 2, 2020:
This is by no means an exhaustive list. If you want more, connect with your EC for additional job leads and support.
